It’s all about PvP in Amazon Game Studios’ latest New World: Forged in Aeternum episode. In the video, Creative Director Dave Verfaillie and his merry band of lead developers dive into the major changes coming to PvP when Season 2: Blood of the Sands kicks off in July.

One of the highlights of the upcoming season, at least for PvP players, is the addition of regional cross-world Outpost Rush. With the new Outpost Rush mode, the team hopes not only bring more players into the PvP activity but also drastically reduce queue times. Outpost Rushes in general will see a significant change to its scoring system to reward players who focus on completing objectives rather than going on an all-out killing spree.

The new season will also bring with it various gameplay adjustments to addressing cheesing and exploits. These include tweaks to the Baroness fight, boosts to siege weapons, and changes to corrupted portals that will require players to actually kill the waves of corrupted enemies before they can be completed. The PvP reward track will also be updated to offer more desirable rewards in earlier levels.

The team also touched on the multi-level arena map that’s currently in development as well as the influence system revamp coming in Season 3. The new Forged in Aeternum video embedded below should give you more information on what to expect when Season 2 begins on July 6th.

Meanwhile, Amazon has released the PTR patch notes for Season 2’s third phase of testing. The latest phase includes fixes for several sandwurm bugs and PvP consumables, and adds collision lanes in the Legacy of the Sands trial to prevent players from cheesing by jumping off ledges.
