Hello Games founder Sean Murray has begun teasing their first major update of the year for No Man’s Sky with a series of cryptic posts on X.

No Man’s Sky has consistently received a plethora of free updates over the past seven years which has transformed it from a disappointing mess to a feature-rich game that’s well-loved by its loyal community of players. 2023 was a particularly big year for the multiplayer sci-fi survival game with the release of the Interceptor update and a collection of new expeditions, and 2024 promises to be even bigger.

Murray says that 2024 will be one of the game’s biggest years but has yet to reveal what’s in the pipeline aside from a mysterious post that presumably hints at the next update’s theme. The post contains just one character – the omega symbol. As long-time players already know, Murray typically starts sharing similarly mysterious posts when an update is nearing its release.

No Man’s Sky’s internal branch was also reportedly updated last week, further fueling rumors that an update will be coming out soon. Rumors also suggest that a brand-new expedition will be included in the upcoming update. The new space station designs revealed during Hello Games’ presentation at The Game Awards 2024 will also be making their way to the game sometime this year.

Hello Games is also currently working on a new game called Light No Fires which was unveiled during the same presentation. Murray, however, assures the community that they’ll continue to support No Man’s Sky and that it will continue to receive updates and new content for years to come.
