All But One GunZ 2 Server Set To Close On May 10th

GunZ 2: The Second Duel has had a pretty rough go of it. First, players didn't find it nearly appealing as its janky, but far more enjoyable, predecessor due to the lack of "K-Style" gameplay. Then, its developer MAIET Entertainment went under. Now, it's suffering from low player numbers, averaging less than 100 players at any one time according to SteamCharts. Given the low player numbers, the game doesn't need six servers. As such, the game's current maintainer Masangsoft announced that all but one of the game's servers will be closing on May 10th.

The server that will be left online will be the US West server. The servers for Europe, Japan, Singapore, South America, and US East are all being shut down on May 10th at 5 PM PDT / 8 PM EDT. The game has been in maintenance mode for some time, having received no updates since Masangsoft took over, so the move isn't surprising. The game will continue living on in maintenance mode, but will only have one server going forward.

Despite the closure of most of GunZ 2's servers, the original GunZ: The Duel was relaunched in Korea last year. Masangsoft has yet to announce an international relaunch and, given the average player numbers listed here by those who have played on the official Korean server, I'm doubtful that they ever will.
