Pantheon: Rise Of The Fallen Admits New Hand-Painted Art Style ‘Isn’t There Yet’ In Latest Dev Stream

The Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen dev team held another Q&A livestream last Friday where they addressed several community concerns about the game’s development. Unsurprisingly, developer Visionary Realm’s controversial decision to rework the upcoming fantasy MMORPG’s art style was again one of the key topics that came up during the dev stream.

The new art style has proved to be extremely unpopular with the game’s community, particularly since the new hand-painted look apparently took away from the game’s supposedly gritty theme. The studio, however, reiterated that the artistic shift will not only improve the game’s performance but will also allow them to create assets faster. The team says that they’re happy with the change but admits that it’s not quite there yet.

Visionary Realms also offered some insight into the game’s lore, death mechanics, racial starting areas, and capital cities. The team says that XP penalties for death are still under discussion and that racial starting zones are being designed to give each one a unique identity. Capital cities, however, might not make it to the launch build due to how resource-intensive they are to create and that they might end up being ghost towns anyway.

The team also promises more alpha pledge sessions, more weekly streams, and better communication with the Pantheon’s community and backers. You can catch the full hour-long dev stream below.
