Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen’s first pre-alpha season will soon be coming to a close and Visionary Realms is happy to report that the new seasonal testing format has been a huge success. The studio says that the new testing style encouraged plenty of new players to try the game, many of whom stayed in-game for more than 24 hours.

“We are thrilled to announce that Season 1 of Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen has been an overwhelming success,” touts the studio. “The player count exceeded our expectations and the testing data we’ve gathered has been invaluable. […] We are extremely pleased to see Pantheon being received like this and we can’t thank you enough for your support and participation.”

The team is now looking forward to Season 2 which will officially begin on March 30. Dubbed The Mouth of Madness, Season 2 promises a host of new challenges and adventures, including a new overland dungeon called the Mad Run.

“This dungeon is designed to test your skills and teamwork, with content ranging from level 17 to 24,” says the devs. “But be warned, lurking within the depths of Mad Run is a formidable level 45 world boss. Mad Run has been purposely hand-designed to be one of our most challenging content areas to date. We’re eager to see how you’ll tackle the bold and demanding trials that await within.”

Season 2 will also feature animation improvements and a game-wide lighting update which will improve lighting in any situation, whether it’s day or night, underground, or player-held. Other improvements that players can look forward to include the reintroduction of story content by way of the Pulse and Perception systems, slower NPC flee speeds, and major tweaks to the spell resistance system that should make it easier to land spells on mobs up to five levels above a player’s level.
