As Visionary Realms works to polish up Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen’s gameplay systems and mechanics in preparation for persistent pre-alpha testing, one thing that’s conspicuously remained untouched is the game’s outdated visuals. It’s one of the pain points that testers and fans have been complaining about for a while now.

The good news is that the studio is now working to address the problem and has shifted their focus towards art creation. In its August newsletter, the team admits that the game looks “old and unappealing” and that they plan to give it a more “painted look” while retaining Pantheon’s gritty theme.

The painted art style will also have the added benefit of increasing performance while allowing the team to create art assets much faster. A preview of the new art style is promised sometime later this month. The team also revealed ongoing work on updating models, assets, and animations. Expect to see an updated monthly content calendar soon.
