Path of Exile 2 Goes Free-to-Play With Duelist Class

Grinding Gear Games has confirmed that Path of Exile 2 will exit paid Early Access and launch its full 1.0 update on December 11, revealed through a new trailer during ONL. The action RPG has been available in paid Early Access through several seasons, but it will become free-to-play with the full release.

Path of Exile 2 has been playable for some time, but its full launch has not yet arrived. December 11 will mark the transition from paid Early Access to free-to-play access.

What Changes on December 11

  • Business model shift: Path of Exile 2 drops its Early Access price tag and becomes free-to-play at launch.
  • New class: The Duelist, a sword-focused melee class, joins the roster with 1.0.
  • Expanded campaign: More campaign Acts arrive alongside the full release.
  • Pre-registration rewards: GGG is encouraging new and existing Early Access players to register on the Path of Exile 2 site ahead of launch for updates and milestone rewards.

The Duelist and additional campaign Acts will arrive at the same time as the free-to-play transition, making the 1.0 update a substantial content release as well as the game's full launch.
