Plans For Das Tal Revealed, Alpha 2 In April

Das Tal's "first proper Alpha test" was held in November. It was fairly successful and the team at Fairytale Distillery note that they had a lot of fun. However, the Alpha made one thing clear to them; "the game was not yet ready for a full launch."

In a blog post posted today, Game Director Alexander Zacherl outlines what the team is planning to work on between now and Alpha 2. Two major points are made: They want veteran players to play each of the game's finite worlds to completion and they want to make the game more accessible to new players. Zacherl expresses the want to accomplish these goals without "resorting to 'the usual solutions'" such as "unnecessary grind" or safe zones, respectively.

To do this, several new major features are being introduced. A goal system of respect, valley defense, and leaderboards has been added. A "server end event" is being introduced for when game worlds end. An "opportunities system" will be added to "[nudge] newbies to explore the game." PvP will soon have a flagging system to "[allow] players to flag themselves as friendly." Caravan Raids will give players something to do "during non-prime time hours." Building permissions and clan management systems will be added for better control over your clan.

Several overhauls will also occur. The Siege system will now have "more interesting flag fights" and "less respawn hassle." Equipment progression will be tweaked to give you "more motivation to upgrade your gear.
