Riot Games Is Mass-Hiring For Upcoming League Of Legends MMORPG

league of legends mmo riot cithria cloudfield bannerRiot Games has put out a job posting for developers from various disciplines to join a big team working on the studio’s upcoming League of Legends-inspired MMORPG. The studio is currently pooling developers with experience in Game Engineering, Game Design, UX Design, Game Art, and Game Production.

“No, you’re not dreaming, we’re working on an MMORPG based in the League universe! We know MMOs take a lot of people to create, and we’ll need a pretty big raid team if we want to bring Runeterra to life. That's where you come in. We’ll periodically post new roles, but right now we don’t have any specific openings on the team—we’re just gearing up for the journey (and need to replace our greens first).”

According to the post, Riot is looking for people with “direct experience in MMOs,” although it won’t be required for every role. Interested developers can submit their applications on the studio’s official site regardless of their background and experience. “[. . .] If a role opens up that fits your background and experience, we may reach out and encourage you to apply! Be sure to check back later if you don't see anything that fits your background now, as we're constantly adding new positions as they open.”

“This is an unusual approach because we are going to need a lot of people, and we know there is a lot of interest, so you can . . . express your interest even if we don’t have an open role for you yet,” tweeted Lead Developer Greg Street, who himself confirmed the project last December. “Early on there is definitely a need for industry veterans with MMO experience, but we will consider folks with no industry experience down the road.”
