RuneScape Opens The Golden City of Menaphos On June 5th

On June 5th, a city that RuneScape players have been able to see, but never visit, for more than twelve years will open its gates for the first time. Players will finally be able to explore Menaphos: The Golden City, a massive city that features hanging gardens, streams, and even a pyramid.

Menaphos will feature a story of corruption, new quests, "a constantly shifting network of tombs that can be raided for their ancient riches," and a new Slayer Dungeon. Additionally, the Slayer skill's level cap will be raised for the first time ever, from level 99 to level 120.

RuneScape Lead Designer David Osborne had the following to say about the announcement.

RuneScape has always been underpinned with the telling of great stories and quests, and launching RuneScape Expansions – beginning with Menaphos: The Golden City – allows us to do that in an entirely new way. We’re working hard to ensure this gleaming metropolis eclipses the Menaphos that’s been in the imagination of our many millions of players for more than a decade, and we can’t wait to share more details over the coming weeks before the gates open.
