Hi-Rez Studios will be ramping up testing for SMITE 2 later this month when it begins round-the-clock closed alpha testing on August 27. One of the key improvements that fans can look forward to in the MOBA sequel is a better and more accurate matchmaking system compared to its predecessor.

The new and improved matchmaking system will take into account a player’s role preference and their skill ratings for each role in addition to their overall skill rating. To better place players in their preferred roles, they’ll be asked to rank their role preference from one to five. The system will also consider multiple skill values when matching players against each other.

The video below offers an overview of how SMITE 2’s matchmaking system will work when it goes live later this month.
