Sony Computer Entertainment Announces ForwardWorks, A Smartphone Division

Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that it will be opening a new smartphone division called ForwardWorks Corporation on April 1st, the same day that it becomes Sony Interactive Entertainment. ForwardWorks will be a fully owned subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment that "will leverage the intellectual property of the numerous PlayStation® dedicated software titles and its gaming characters [...] to provide gaming application optimized for smart devices including smartphones to users in Japan and Asia."

ForwardWorks will be focused on creating "full-fledged game titles" for smart devices that users can "casually enjoy." The company has been given 10 million yen in capital to begin working towards this goal.
