Star Trek Online Sets September Date for Season 34 “Unleashed” Update

Star Trek Online, the long-running free-to-play MMO set in Gene Roddenberry’s sci-fi universe, is gearing up for its 34th seasonal update. Titled Unleashed, the new season goes live on PC September 23, 2025, with PlayStation and Xbox versions following on November 11. The update once again folds recognizable Star Trek talent into its story, bringing back Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine and Jonathan Del Arco as Hugh.
First launched in 2010, Star Trek Online has leaned on a TV-style “season” structure to keep players engaged, delivering fresh story arcs and cooperative missions every few months. Unleashed continues the game’s ongoing Aetherian conflict and looks set to challenge veteran captains with a mix of space and ground combat scenarios.
Highlights in Season 34:
- New episode – “Best Laid Plans”: Answer Hugh’s call at Deep Space 9, track Aetherian leader Thaseen-Fei, and team up with Seven of Nine for a high-risk extraction mission.
- New five-player TFO – “Shattered Peace”: Defend Khitomer Headquarters, patch rifts, and fend off successive enemy waves while Seven handles the ground assault.
- Celebrity voice work: Jeri Ryan and Jonathan Del Arco reprise their Star Trek: Picard roles, a tactic that has helped the MMO bridge the gap between television canon and in-game storytelling.
- PC first, consoles later: The usual staggered release means PC captains jump in late September, with console crews following in November.
After fifteen years online, few MMOs keep pace with current television lore the way Star Trek Online does. With Paramount+ continuing to expand the franchise, Unleashed gives players another chance to fly alongside familiar faces while pushing the Aetherian plotline toward its next phase.
