Sunsetted 2D Indie MMORPG Element Quest Is Coming Back As Sunset World Online
Earlier this month, we reported on the shutdown of MapleStory-esque indie 2D MMORPG Element Quest. MuscleBird Games, however, hinted that the game might return to service sometime in the future. That time is apparently coming sooner than expected as the studio announces its plans to resurrect the game on Steam as Sunset World Online.
According to the team, they plan to pick up where the original game left off without the latency and localization issues that plagued it. The game will generally stay the same with the addition of a new and improved starting experience, new quests, more spells, and several quality-of-life improvements. The reboot will also feature six hours of solo play with guilds, trading, and PvP currently in the works.
Sunset World Online will be launching on PC, Mac, and Android devices on March 1st. The game will again be free-to-play and will be devoid of any pay-to-win elements just like the original game. Whether or not this can sustain the game remains to be seen as considering that Element Quest’s business model was cited as the cause of the game’s downfall.
