Valheim Pushes Out Various Mistlands Tweaks To Make The Biome A Bit Safer

Iron Gate Studio is looking to make Valheim’s new Mistlands biome just a little bit safer for Vikings to explore in the Viking MMORPG’s next update. Apparently, the Seeker Soldiers and flying Gjalls have been causing all sorts of trouble for players traipsing through the new zone and the developers have decided to slightly thin out their population.

Mistlands Update 0.212.9 is now live on the public test server featuring adjustments to the spawn rates of Seekers and Gjalls. Their spawn rates have now been reduced to around the same rate as the Trolls of Black Forest. Seekers have also had their AI behavior adjusted so that they’re a little less aggressive while Gjalls will now do less damage to bases as they’ll only fire one projectile at a time. Also, if you’ve been having unwanted run-ins with Seekers on account of the new Seeker event, you’ll be happy to know that the event will no longer be occurring in the Meadows, Mountains, Swamps, and Ocean biomes.

The ballista has also been adjusted to fire faster with ammo that’s cheaper to make. Sound effects have also been added to indicate when the ballista is shooting and when it’s lost sight of its target. On the subject of targets, the targeting behavior ballistae has been tweaked but they’ll still home in on friendly players and creatures. “If it only shoots monsters wouldn’t it feel a bit less exciting somehow?” noted senior developer Jonathan Smårs.

Players on the test realm will also now benefit from the increased durability of Mistlands armor and shield recipes but will no longer be able to stack the comfort effects of multiple carpets. That means that you’ll get to enjoy the benefits of having max comfort for roughly five minutes less than you previously would.

You’ll find the official Update 0.212.9 test server release notes here. There’s also a new animated trailer waiting for you below.
