World of Warcraft Classic is paving the way for Cataclysm Classic and Deathwing’s return next month with the earth-shattering pre-patch at the end of the month. The pre-patch will break the world of Azeroth apart in a server-wide event called The Shattering and will introduce the Worgen and Goblin as playable races alongside new talent trees and updated talent mechanics.

Funnily enough, Blizzard Entertainment launched World of Warcraft Classic as a way to give retail players a chance to experience the game as it was before the Cataclysm expansion irrevocably and rather unpopularly changed the game world and the game itself. Now, its about to do it again and the community’s reactions are mixed, to say the least.

The pre-patch will be rolling out on the Wrath of the Lich King Classic servers on April 30, while Cataclysm Classic itself will be launching on May 20. In the meantime, you still have a few weeks to enjoy and explore the old Azeroth before Deathwing blasts his way out of his subterranean prison.
