Overview

Gigantic Overview

Gigantic is a 3D cartoony MOBA with a third-person camera and action-oriented gameplay, similar to Smite. Unlike traditional MOBAs, Gigantic will feature a unique map design with an emphasis on objective control and capture. Players are required to make strategic decisions throughout the game with the ultimate objective of destroying the opposing team's Guardian, which actually aids players in battle by fighting. Visually, the game looks like a mix between Strife and Team Fortress 2. Gigantic shut down on July 31, 2018 after failing to attract a large enough playerbase.

Gigantic Key Features:

  • Action-Oriented Combat individual abilities must be aimed (similar to smite). Defeat the enemy's Guardian to win.
  • Over Sixteen Playable Heroes – each with 5 abilities (Left mouse button, Right mouse button, and 3 other abilities).
  • Strategic Gameplay with Guardians and Creatures – creatures aid players in combat and do more than simply auto-attack. Deciding which to summon and when is crucial.
  • Unique Map Design – map has an emphasis on objective control and capture
  • Guardian Combat – the ultimate objective of the game that also aids players by fighting.

Development History / Background:

Gigantic was developed by the American game studio Motiga, based in Bellevue, Washington. Development for Gigantic began when Motiga first opened its doors in August 2010, but it wasn't until 2012 that the company began focusing on Gigangic full-throttle. The game was announced to the world on July 14, 2014 after more than 2 years in development. The game's lead designer is James Phinney, the same Phinney who was the lead designer for both Starcraft and Guild Wars. Alpha testing for Gigantic began on September 10, 2014 and the game's official trailer was shown off to the world at Pax Prime. The game aims to launch for both Windows 10 and Xbox One platforms. Motiga partnered with Microsoft to publish the game on Windows 10, so players will need to upgrade from older versions of Windows to play the game. Luckily, Windows 10 is free, so the transition is a free one.

In May 2016, Perfect World Entertainment announced that they entered a publishing agreement with Motiga, and Motiga ended their exclusive partnership with Windows 10 and Xbox One, announcing that the game would be made available through Perfect World's Arc client and a standalone launcher. The agreement means Gigantic will be available for Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10.

Gigantic shut down on July 31, 2018 after failing to attract a large enough playerbase.
