One Piece Thousand Storm Overview

One Piece Thousand Storm is a 3D mobile MMORPG available for Android and iOS in Japan, based on the highly popular and long-running One Piece anime and manga series. Journey across the sea to visit a variety of islands, fighting marines and villains to become the king of the pirates along with up to two friends. Fight your enemies manually or turn on auto mode to let the AI control character movement, requiring players to unleash their skills regardless of the mode they pick. Upgrade your characters with new abilities and stat boosts through the use of scene cards that recreate memorable moments from the series. A variety of skills are available for each character, including Sanji's Diable Jambe, Luffy's Red Hawk, and Trafalgar Law's Shambles, each upgradeable through the use of the game's card system for strategic use in combat. Collect new characters from the game's premium currency random character lottery or by playing the many special events and story mode missions available.

Development History / Background:

One Piece Thousand Storm is developed by DeNA, a game developer and publisher of licensed mobile games such as Final Fantasy Record Keeper and G.I. Joe Battleground. The game was published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, owner of the One Piece brand and publisher of a variety of other licensed games, including One Piece Treasure Cruise and Rise of Incarnates. One Piece is written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda and has been released in the weekly manga magazine Shōnen Jump since 1997, and is one of the longest running current manga series on the market with an incredibly large fanbase. OPTS is one of multiple licensed One Piece mobile games along with One Piece Run, Chopper, Run! and One Piece Dance Battle. The game was released for an open beta in Japan on December 16, 2015, lasting until December 22, 2015. The game was released in Japan on April 21, 2016. A global version was released on January 25, 2017 but was shut down on December 13, 2018.
