Development History / Background:
Shores of Hazeron is developed largely by one man, David Hoeft, who works under the name Software Engineering, Inc. The game is largely funded by a team of Hoeft's that creates CAD software. The game entered Open Beta on December 31, 2010 and could be played completely free of charge while it was developed further. On August 15, 2014, allegedly frustrated with his community and unable to keep up with the $100,000 and rising development costs, Hoeft shut the game down. He later announced on August 20, 2014 that Shores of Hazeron would be morphing into a new game that would later become Gravity Well V, a resurrection of Hoeft's Gravity Well series that left off in the 1990s. After a less-than-favorable response to Gravity Well V and its business model, the community convinced Hoeft that they would now be willing to pay a subscription if it meant that Shores of Hazeron could continue. Hoeft reopened Shores of Hazeron on February 16, 2015 as a subscription game. The game is currently undergoing major revisions in order to ready it for Steam Greenlight.
