Shores Of Hazeron Changes City Neglect And Abandonment Mechanics

Shores of Hazeron's lone developer recently proposed a rework the game's city neglect and abandonment mechanics. As a part of this rework, several major systems were changed. One of the more important changes is that your home sector is no longer automatically visited when you come online. This change was supposedly made to keep players from feeling the need to "do cumbersome meta-game things to be competitive." After some changes, abandonment now starts one week "after a system is visited by a person who is online." The penalty inflicted upon morale will remain zero until a week later, giving you a chance to visit the city in question before it begins to decay. From there, it will increase by one per week. Sector capitals will not be affected while there is an empire capital. Similarly, non-capitals will not be affected while there is a sector capital.

Neglect will begin 14 days "after the last person online or officer was in a city's solar system," granted these people or officers are in the same empire as the city. Once neglect begins, loyalty will "decrease at the rate of one citizen per city report." Neglected cities with a loyalty of zero can be more easily conquered. There is no other negative effect.
