Overview

Soldier Front Overview

Soldier Front is a realistic lobby-based MMO FPS that offers a variety of game modes including team battle, single battle, team death match, and clan battle, to name a few. Like Alliance of Valiant Arms and Combat Arms, Soldier Front features lobby-based gameplay. Player avatars are selected from real-world elite task force teams such as the SAS, Delta Force, Spetsnaz, GSG 9 and more, offering unique arsenals characteristic to their team. The game’s weapons are more realistically portrayed than some other FPS games, balanced with ten stats that include damage, rebound intensity, and recoil recovery in an attempt to accurately simulate real-world guns. Weapon repairing is also a significant gameplay element, as weapons in need of repair drop have significantly reduced accuracy. A sequel to Soldier Front was released in 2013 (NA) titled Soldier Front 2. Soldier Front 1 shut down on January 29, 2016 from Aeria Games.

Soldier Front Key Features:

  • Variety of Weaponry – take on enemies with Snipers, Rifles, Shotguns, Pistols, Knives, Machine Guns, and Grenades.
  • 11 Maps and Game Modes – visit 11 unique maps that feature game modes such as Single Battle, Team Battle, Capture, Captain, Horror, Sniper, and Deathmatch.
  • Real-World Combat Squads – create a character whose allegiance lies with the PSU, Mulan, Force Recon, Spetsnaz, Delta Force, or other real-life elite combat squads.
  • Realistic Weapons and Combat – each weapon boasts ten unique stats that closely mirror their real counterparts, requiring repair and maintenance on a regular basis.
  • Ranking System – increase your ranking as you play the game, earning a new badge for your rank and earning more money and weapon prizes as you advance.

Development History / Background:

Soldier Front, called Special Force in Asia, was developed by South Korean game studio DragonFly, and was published by a variety of publishers globally, including Aeria Games in North America and Europe. The game was released in Korea on July 2004, where it boasted over 6 million active players. The game made it to North America in February 2007, originally hosted on the ijji game portal. After the acquisition of ijji by Aeria Games, Soldier Front moved to the Aeria Games portal. The game received a large graphical update in 2009 through a patch that the developers created to update the UI, reorganize weapons, and update the weapon graphics. A sequel called Soldier Front 2 was made in Unreal Engine 3 in 2013, and is available for play through Steam.

The North American version of Soldier Front 1 shut down on January 29, 2016.
