Weekly Raid: Do You Still Have Faith In Crowd Funded MMOs?

PUBG shouldn't be the "game of the year" because it hasn't been released yet, it's still an early access game. It has been important to PC gaming and all that, but I can't see it as "game of the year". It's more like a "most influential game of the year" or something like that.

its like saying Trump shouldn't be person of the year (on Time mag), whether or not you like him/think he's a good president, he's definitely caused a shitstorm across the world - while making tons of money for international media. He is the gift that keeps on giving for media and comedians. So imo, as far as "____ of the year" goes, PUBG easily takes top spot, even though I agree with your sentiment.

Also consider how some games release pretty much with full features yet refuse to leave open beta (into full release), FPS games like Dirty Bomb have been open beta for over a year now, it's pretty much a finished game so labels don't really mean much nowadays.

But again I get what you're saying, they should really rename "_____ of the year" to "most influential ____ of the year" lol

The game has been influential and made lots of cash, but still, I can't compare the buggy, glitchy and broken mess that is PUBG with other games worthy of the GOTY title.
