DXRacer has created the signature look for gaming chairs as they have entered the mainstream. It’s hard not to find their definitive color scheme and sharp shape everywhere you look.

For those seeking something beyond the standard Black/Red or two two-tone aesthetic that DXRacer has been known to use, while still wanting the superb feel and shape that DXRacer provides, the Craft Series line has come to the field. With custom embroidered art, and cleaner color schemes, someone looking to show a little bit more personality with their desk space and office chair will find that the Craft Series fits the bill. The specific chair I received was the Thinker.

Unboxing and Assembly

The Craft Series gaming chair is no different in unboxing and assembly than any other gaming chair in their lineup. With simple assembly and nearly all the screws already in place, you can expect to get your chair put together in minutes. If you’ve struggled with the messy assembly of cheaper office chairs, you’ll be relieved to find that everything fits together where you would expect, without having to pull hard to align a bolt or screw for an armrest attachment.

If you are assembling the chair alone, you may have some trouble keeping the chair aligned when attaching the backrest with the actual seat, but once that part is done everything else falls into place. The manual is printed on the backside of a paper separator, and is straightforward to follow, especially with many of the parts already in place. If your office is in a tight space, I’d also recommend assembling outside of the office, as the box itself is quite large, and there is a significant amount of packaging foam to keep the product from being damaged during transit.

Features and Comfort

Unlike the standard entries in the DXRacer line, the Craft Series has an adjustable lumbar support built into the backrest instead of the expected lower pillow, but keeps its traditional head rest pillow you see in the rest of their lineup. I’ve found the pillow to fit perfectly with my neck when I lean back, and after a day or two of experimentation, found a perfect position for the lumbar support. What I found surprisingly convenient for me, however, has been the significant degree in which the armrests are adjustable. With vertical, horizontal, and angular adjustments, I’ve found that I can make the seat comfortable for my arms with a controller in my hands playing Elden Ring, or widening out the armrests for when I need to make more use of my desk space with traditional Keyboard + Mouse gaming.

After using the DXRacer Craft Chair for two weeks, I sat back in my old chair to see if the comfort I was feeling was placebo, and it certainly wasn’t. If you’re coming from a standard office chair with weak adjustability, and looking to upgrade, the impact will be significant. There’s no way I could go back to my old chair after just a few weeks using my new Craft Chair. The benefit of the support the chair gives was night and day over what I upgraded from.

Appearance and Fit

The largest distinguishing feature of the Craft Series is their custom embroidered designs and appearance. Distinct from the two-color appearance typical with their standard gaming chair line, you get a striking and artistic appearance with their craft series, beyond the improved features like their built-in lumbar support. I went with their “Thinker” chair. Because I felt like it kept a more professional appearance while keeping a touch of artistic flair that distinguishes the chair at the desk.

The comfort of the chair does a far better job at keeping me comfortable during most of the day when I’m working from home. I’ve found myself much happier during days where I remain almost entirely at my desk. I’d gladly recommend this chair to anyone looking to upgrade to something that has some better support for long seated sessions.

Conclusion - Strongly Recommended

There’s no question that you are getting a premium purchase with the Craft Series. At the $479.00 price point, some might be hesitant to spend that much on their office/gaming chair. But for someone who spends most of their active hours at their desk, making the upgrade to a chair with better support is a worthwhile decision. DXRacer’s Craft Series line represents the desire to stand out with artistic flair, all while not compromising on the latest in their support and comfort features. For anyone looking for a premium gaming chair, the Craft Series comes at a strong recommendation.

I've been playing games before I could walk, and MMOs since Earthlink 5.0, a terrible way to play. I bounce around between games a lot, from EVE Online back to Vanilla and forward to whatever Indie title can keep my interest.
