Intel Extreme Masters XI World Championship Katowice

As the final event of IEM Season XI, the IEM XI World Championship in Katowice took off this week which gave a break to all of the regions. Going from February 22-26, eight teams played for a $150,000 USD prize pool. Sadly for the tournament, Cloud9, SKT, Samsung, and EDward Gaming all stepped down from the competition. The prize pool isn't enormous and the tournament does not have an impact on Worlds, many teams did not see the value in spending the week in Katowice when they could be concentrating on their respective splits.

Here are the results:

With G2 Esports and the Flash Wolves in the Finals, the Flash Wolves were able to take the win with a 2-0 Sweep.

My first MMOs included Ragnarok Online, Gunbound, Diablo II, and World of Warcraft. Nowadays, my wife (also a writer on MMOs) and I play League of Legends and any other MMOs we can get our hands on. I also love following eSports and attending eSports events.
