AD2460 Is Going Free To Play On December 7th

On December 7th, AD2460 is getting its seventh major patch. The browser-based strategy game created by the original developers of Planetarion, Fifth Season, originally launched last December to a fair amount of praise for being a subscription browser-based strategy game. With Patch 7, they will be dropping that subscription in favor of a free-to-play model.
Now, you're probably reading this with a certain "aren't all free-to-play browser-based strategy games pay-to-win?" thought going through your head. Fifth Season have reassured players that they have a "very clear stance" against pay-to-win gameplay elements and will be working to avoid them at all costs. The game will be supported by various non-essential purchases such as cosmetic changes for your commander, the ability to place a bounty on your opponents, and the ability to take part in friendly skirmishes called "War Games" without the risk of losing your fleet.
For more information, head to the official website. You can sign up now for a 15 day free trial and your progress will carry over when the game goes free-to-play on the 7th.
