Albion Online Bans Over 600 Accounts For Third-Party Currency Trading

albion online pickaxe gatheringSandbox Interactive has brought the mighty banhammer down on 604 accounts that engaged in third-party currency trading and purchasing in Albion Online. The team cited a paragraph from the game’s Terms and Conditions as the reason behind the bans.

“4.5.1 Users are prohibited from selling, purchasing, renting, leasing, offering, accepting, disseminating or copying Virtual Benefits, including Virtual Currency, within and/or outside the Game - in whatever form – to/from third parties unless expressly permitted by these Terms and Conditions or the Game Rules.”

The team further reminded players that any Silver acquired from third-party resellers have been obtained through illegal means including but not limited to the fraudulent use of stolen credit cards to purchase Gold (the game’s premium currency) which can then be used to purchase in-game currency. Once the devs found out about the use of stolen cards, they charged back the payments which resulted in a hefty charge back fee for the studio.

“Purchasing from these third party sellers actively hurts SBI and the development of the game,” said Sandbox Interactive. “In addition, we strongly believe in keeping a fair playing field and stable economy in the game, and therefore, we will continue to tackle this issue.”
