Sandbox Interactive will be making various changes to Albion Online’s Roads of Avalon content in the PvP sandbox MMORPG’s upcoming Beyond the Veil update. These include major changes to Hideout mechanics, changes to how logouts and disconnects are handled, new objectives and open-world treasures, and new mobs, including Crystal Spiders.

To make it easier for small groups to control regions within the Roads, the update will allow players to declare Hideouts as Headquarters. They will, however, require power to maintain with the use of Power Cores which can be found exclusively within the Roads. Players will also get the ability to accelerate Hideout construction. The downside is that guilds will have to be more active if they want to maintain control of entire Hideout regions.

As for players who logout while they’re in the Roads of Avalon, they’ll be returned to the place where they first entered the Roads when they log back in. This will cause equipment to lose durability and they may even lose some stacked items. Players who get disconnected, on the other hand, will be given more time to reconnect before they’re removed from the instance. “This will prevent players staying in high-value locations to scout them constantly, making the Roads more competitive and rewarding exploration,” the devs explained.

Mobs will also be getting buffed and the areas between Hideout regions will get more rewarding content for larger groups of players. Large portals will also be exclusive to those areas and small portals will be removed entirely.

“These changes should reinvigorate the Roads of Avalon as an area for small group play and independent guilds, providing a variety of PvE and PvP options and rewarding exploration,” said Sandbox. “We hope to encourage new guilds to enjoy this content, and can’t wait to see who makes their home in the Roads.”

Game Director Robin Henkys and his comfy chair are back to talk about the upcoming changes in the video below.
