Albion Online’s Crystal Raiders Update Will Introduce Territory Raids And Crystal Weapons

Sandbox Interactive follows through with its plans to transition to quarterly seasonal content releases, the first of which will be next month’s Crystal Raiders update. The update rolls out on January 8th, promising to usher in a new era in the PvP sandbox MMORPG with the introduction of Territory Raiding.

“[Crystal Raiders] re-envisions Guild Warfare in Albion Online, with Territory Raiding that brings thrilling new dimensions to territory control, while allowing smaller guilds more opportunities to strike during a season,” the studio teased. “Crystal Raiders also introduces Crystal Weapons, powerful weapons with unique abilities crafted from Artifacts gained as season rewards. The first three weapons fill out the Sword, Spear, and Arcane Staff lines, with three new weapons coming each subsequent season.”

The update will also bring improved hideouts, new tracking targets, and several new quality-of-life features, including a map overlay. Sandbox Interactive also heralds another combat balance pass arriving with the update, which will include buffs to underused melee abilities and items. The goal is to encourage players to try out more build and item varieties across different types of content. The balance pass will also include a complete revamp of the Heroic Strike and Inner Focus skills for swords and spears, respectively.

In addition to changing their update cadence, it looks like Sandbox Interactive is also overhauling their developer video format. Don’t worry, Robin Henkys still makes an appearance, albeit on a different colored comfy chair. He’s also joined by several other developers unlike the monologues of previous videos.
