Cold Iron Studios gives Aliens: Fireteam Elite players something to look forward to, and maybe pull in a few more players while they’re at it, as they unveil the game’s Year 1 development roadmap. The roadmap reveals the team’s plans for the co-op shooter from the last quarter of the year all the way up to the third quarter of 2022 starting with Season 2.

“You can look forward to Season 2 before the end of the year! With it we will introduce a New Game Mode, as well as a New Feature, Weapons, Attachments, Challenge Cards, and a variety of cosmetics! If you enjoyed Horde Mode then we’re sure you will enjoy our next new game modes. You can expect twists to the session length, goals, and the tools you will have available, as well as the cool new environments they will be set in.”

Players can expect the addition of a new kit (class) and new feature in Q2 2022 with the start of Season 3 as well as another game mode in Q3 2022. Details for each of the free seasonal updates will be revealed as their release dates draws near.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite’s playerbase has been getting smaller over the past few weeks, falling from a peak of over 15,000 players on launch day to a 24-hour peak of 732 players as of this writing. While the numbers aren’t that bad, they barely hold a candle to Back 4 Blood’s current player numbers. The addition of a new game mode and new content might just be what the game needs to get back on track.

You’ll find the full roadmap below, or you can also head over to the Aliens: Fireteam Elite official site for more info.
