aliens fireteam key art bannerCold Iron Studios, a Daybreak Games subsidiary, has officially announced a new Alien-inspired co-op third-person shooter titled Aliens: Fireteam. The studio teased the game in 2019, although back then it wasn’t clear what genre it would fall into. Most assumed that it would be an MMO-type shooter considering that the studio was founded by former Cryptic Studios developers. Well now we have confirmation that it’s actually leaning more towards squad-based cooperative gameplay.

“2202. A mysterious distress call reroutes your Marine Assault Unit to LV-895 in the outer colonies, where deadly Xenomorph legions, hidden corporate secrets, and ancient alien ruins await your arrival.

Set in the iconic Alien universe, Aliens: Fireteam is a cooperative third-person survival shooter that drops your fireteam of hardened marines into a desperate fight to contain the Xenomorph threat.”

In Aliens: Fireteam, a squad of three players face off against the iconic Xenomorph and Synthetic mechanoids from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation across four unique campaigns with a brand-new storyline set 20 years after the events of the Alien Trilogy. Players can either team up with two other players or use AI to fill in the missing spots. They also have access to five playable classes and an extensive arsenal of weapons, gear, and perks that they can use to create the ultimate Alien-killing marine.

Aliens: Fireteam is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S this summer. Check out the official announcement trailer below. You can also head over to Steam or the official site for more info.
