You can now add ARK: Survival Ascended to the growing list of delayed MMO’s this year as Studio Wildcard pushes back the UE5 remaster’s launch from August to October 2023 for both the PC and console versions.

The remaster will also be launching into early access with just The Island map in tow. Scorched Earth is now set to open its doors in December, followed by Ragnarok and Aberration in Q1 2024, and additional maps after that.

With the early access launch version now significantly lighter on features, the team has decided to slash its price from $45 to $40 indefinitely. The team says that they’re still in the process of learning Unreal Engine 5.2 and trying to navigate its challenges which is why they decided to delay the game’s launch. They also revealed that they’re not happy with the state of the remastered Scorched Earth compared to the retooled version of The Island, prompting them to delay the map’s release.

“We’re discovering new ways each day to push the technology to the next level; combined with the work needed to support a fully cross-platform-moddable game ecosystem on consoles and PC, it’s clear that we’ll need a bit more time,” admitted the devs.

As a result of the delay, Studio Wildcard announced that its extending the lifespan of ARK: Survival Evolved and will now be shutting down the original game’s servers on September 30th. Players will still be able to transfer their accounts over to Survival Ascended, although the tech needed to do that is still in development.

The studio promised to share gameplay footage and more concept as we move closer to ARK: Survival Ascended’s new launch window.
