System Era Softworks’ multiplayer space sandbox game Astroneer has officially launched on Nintendo Switch. Players can now explore the game’s vast and colorful universe even while on the go. You’ll need to fork over $29.99 before you can do that though so be prepared to spend a bit of cash in exchange for portability.

Rolling out alongside the Switch launch is the Xenobiology update which introduces the game’s first-ever pet companion – space snails known as Galastropods. These adorable creatures grant players buffs to aid them in their space adventures as long as they’re kept fed.

“Each Galastropod loves treats and will become extra happy and energized when fed. While a Galastropod is full, players receive a unique benefit to aid in their adventures. Galastropods also have favorite foods which will extend the duration of their benefit when fed.”

A new Adventure Story Mode has also been added that will take players on a quest to retrieve Galastropod specimens and investigate thy mystery surrounding their sudden appearance. The new-player experience has also been updated with new missions to include snail discoveries as they make their way across the solar system. The update also comes with a new update-specific cinematic, new mission requirements and permanent rewards.

The Xenobiology update is now live on both PC and Nintendo Switch. Note that physical copies of the game will need to be updated to the latest build to get all content released after Update 19. The full release notes can be found on the Astroneer Steam Page and on the official site.
