Black Desert Mobile Breaks 1 Million Pre-Registrations in 1 Week

If anyone has doubted there was ever a market for Mobile MMORPGs, you may want to re-think your position. Black Desert Mobile has managed to break over 1 Million pre-registrations in Korea, as the MMORPG market exceedingly goes towards mobile games - which is perfectly logical if you think about it.

The vast majority of people who grew up playing MMORPGs are much older now, and though there will always been a steady stream of people between the ages of 13 and 20-something to play MMORPGs, the people who were of that age group during the days of Ultima Online, and EverQuest, are now much older, with jobs, commutes, and the inability to really sit down during the day and play mobile games.

On top of that, this demographic has the money to spend on mobile games. A game like Persona 5 is a massive investment of at least 60 hours, if not more. Assuming an average worker could play for an hour Sunday through Thursday, and then three hours on Friday and Saturday, it'd take them over a month to finish Persona 5!

Compared to mobile games, which are usually very lenient to how much time you can spend playing, it's easy to see where all this money comes from. Back on the topic at hand, Pearl Abyss's Young-chul Ham, the company's Strategic Planning Director, states "..I am very grateful to all those who have contributed to the game. Before we release it in Korea, we will focus on improving the game, and we will bring you something that will satisfy many people."

"We also want to let our global users know that we plan to launch Black Desert Mobile globally in 2018."
