A close look and some speculation at Bioware's new IP, Anthem

Anthem has been finally revealed at this year's E3. Developed by Bioware, and it was actually teased earlier this year, prior to the launch of Mass Effect: Andromeda. Bioware has been known for making great games - they've been a games studio longer than some gamers have been alive, after all. Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic are just some of their most famous old-school games. For the more new-age games, they're probably more familiar with Mass Effect and the Dragon Age series.

Below you can find two trailers - both gameplay and story - for Anthem. So, looking over them...what exactly is Anthem?

Anthem Official Teaser Trailer (2017)

Based on this trailer alone, I'm getting some Attack on Titanfall feat. Destiny vibes. We can already probably tell that this might be a story about an embattled human race that has fled behind a massive wall for their safety. Players in this world are "Freelancers," that equip their Javelin exo-suits and take on dangerous tasks in the outside world. Gameplay wise, however, it doesn't seem to be anything special. Watching the trailer, you get some major Destiny vibes - kill enemies in third person, grab loot. This definitely isn't BioWare's ballpark, and though they've managed to make a solid MMORPG before, this is uncharted territory for them.

Below you can find the full gameplay trailer for Anthem. It looks interesting enough, but be warned - the dialogue they've tried to stage between the players can, and probably will, make you cringe.
