Destiny 2 player numbers have hit an all-time low in stark contrast to the record-breaking concurrency numbers that it set following the Lightfall expansion’s release just a few months ago. SteamCharts shows a 24-hour peak concurrency of 35,389 players, the lowest its been since the multiplayer shooter launched back in October 2019.

We don’t exactly know what’s driving the mass exodus from the game, but it might have a lot to do with the community’s general disappointment over Lightfall and the delay of the first-person shooter’s The Final Shape expansion.

Whatever the reason, it’s not looking good for Bungie which already missed its revenue mark by 45% last quarter. It’s also worth mentioning that Steam players don’t account for the bulk of Destiny 2’s playerbase as its also available on the Epic Games Store and consoles. However, considering the community’s current sentiments, it’s probably the same situation across every platform.
