Destiny 2 has seen renewed interest from the gaming community following the launch of its massive Lightfall expansion in late February. Without citing specifics, Bungie says that the expansion’s release resulted in a big spike in activity in the online shooter and a massive uptick in its playerbase.

“With Lightfall’s launch, Destiny 2 saw its highest number of concurrent players in years,” reported the studio. “We welcomed more New Lights, returning players, and daily active players than we did with The Witch Queen’s launch last year. We surpassed our sales expectations for a new expansion.”

That being said, Game Director Joe Blackburn admitted that they fell short in providing the community with information on the new Guardian Ranks and missed the mark on some of their goals. To make up for the lack of information, the team will be allowing players to easily regain their Guardian Ranks in future seasons instead of resetting it entirely.

“Hitting the highest rank you can achieve isn’t easy, so you should feel pride in showing it off across multiple seasons, said Bungie. “We also expect players would become annoyed if they had to redo all the basics each season, so we’re building in shortcuts to renew ranks you’ve previously achieved even faster.”

The team will also be making it easier for players to work their way past Rank 6 and will be adding a seasonal history to player UIs so you can quickly check your progress from season to season. Players can also expect tweaks and improvements to the game’s overall difficulty, HP tuning, Neomuna patrol zones, Heist battleground pacing, Terminal Overload matchmaking, and the Lost Sectors endgame solo content in future updates.
