Dungeons And Dragons Online Surprises Hardcore Players With A Scavenger Hunt

Dungeons and Dragons Online had a very welcome surprise waiting for players in its latest hardcore season as Standing Stone Games quietly introduced a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt tasked players with locating seven elusive golden chests to obtain the grand prize waiting at the end.

Word of the scavenger hunt spread like wildfire on the classic MMORPG's new forums, with players eagerly sharing their discoveries and collaborating to locate the chests. The excitement over the surprise event, however, quickly died down when one player found a chest located in an area that can only be accessed by Fables of the Feywild DLC owners. The option to open the content to friends through a guest pass also wasn’t available.

This caused an uproar within the community who argued that the hardcore season’s scavenger hunt shouldn’t be locked behind a paywall. Others claimed that the Feywild DLC was previously part of a free quest pack or suggested that hardcore mode should be exclusively reserved for VIPs once again.

Fortunately, players were able to discover more chests later in the week which meant that players could still complete the seven required chests without the DLC quest. Meanwhile, the hunt for the seven chests continues with both free and VIP players having equal opportunities to obtain the event rewards.
