Elder Scrolls Online Publishes In-Depth Guide To Companions

“Fighting alongside your Companion will improve their effectiveness and taking actions they approve of will build rapport. As you earn their trust and strengthen your bonds of fellowship, your Companion may share personal quests with you. You may also give them Companion-specific gear and customize them in a wide variety of ways, including setting their abilities, mounts, costumes, outfits, and more.”

Apparently, building rapport with your travelling buddy is more important than you’d think. “As rapport increases or falls, various thresholds will be met, with corresponding changes in the Companion's dialogue with you,” explained the team.

“At higher tiers of rapport, the Companion will be inclined to share personal information with you and ask for assistance with associated quests. At lower tiers of rapport, the Companion may choose to part ways with you for a time.”

A player’s rapport level with their Companion may increase or decrease depending on the actions taken by the player with their active Companion. Each Companion has his or her own personal preferences that a player can discover through dialogue and trial and error.

Companions will exclusively be available to players who own Blackwood and can be recruited by completing their respective questlines. They can be summoned almost anywhere in Tamriel but will be auto-dismissed in population-limited instances like dungeons, trials, and group arenas where other players will take precedence in the population count.

Blackwood comes out on June 1 with two companions: Bastian Hallix, who can be found south of Deepscorn Hollow, and Mirri Elendis, who’ll be hanging out north of Doomvault Vulpinaz.
