Elder Scrolls Online Touts 22 Million Players And Talks Up Necrom’s Narrative

ZeniMax Online Studios dropped more information about Elder Scrolls Online’s upcoming Necrom chapter during a press event held earlier this week. The studio kicked off the event with an update on the game’s current player count which has now reached a grand total of 22 million players. That’s 2 million more players than the studio reported last year.
ZeniMax proceeded to tease the Necrom chapter’s storyline that will send players off to the Telvani Peninsula and the Daedric and the Daedric Realm of Forbidden Knowledge, the Apocrypha. The team says that players will spend roughly 60% of their time in the Oblivion realm and 40% in the Telvanni-held lands of Morrowind, helping the Daedric prince Hermaeus Mora prevent an attack by his fellow Daedric princes, a mysterious Dremora, and a Telvanni mage.
The Telvanni Peninsula is also where the eponymous ancient city of Necrom is located, the hub city is rumored to be built upon the bones of a massive creature that was defeated by the Warrior-Poet God Vivec.
Necrom promises a grand story featuring appearances from several iconic characters from the series, including the wizard-god of the Dunmer and creator of Clockwork City, Sotha Sil. It promises roughly 30 hours of new content and will reportedly end in a big cliffhanger. You have been warned.
The upcoming chapter will also introduce two new companions, a new 12-player with new mechanics called Sanity’s Edge, and the new green-loving Arcanist class.
Necrom will be available for testing on the public test server on April 7th and will be launching on June 5th on PC/Mac and on June 20th on consoles. In the meantime, the traditional chapter prologue quest is now playable for free by anyone who owns the base game.
