The Elder Scrolls Online Shows Off Harrowstorm's Unhallowed Grave Dungeon In New Dev Blog

Earlier this month, we got our first look at the upcoming Icereach dungeon. This time around, ZeniMax Online Studios gives us a preview of the Unhallowed Grave dungeon, the second dungeon coming to The Elder Scrolls Online when the Harrowstorm DLC comes out next week marking the start of the year-long Dark Heart of Skyrim adventure.
“An age ago, the local legion buried the remnants of a great evil deep beneath Bangkorai’s sands. To guard over the tomb site, the garrison founded a new organization called the Pyre Watch. [. . .] With each new generation of guardians, more of their original purpose became lost to time, but the tradition continued regardless. Now, the Pyre Watch has all but one member, and as result, raiders have invaded the tomb. The sole remaining member of the Pyre Watch, Shelaria, needs your help to explore the Unhallowed Grave and clear out the vile Draugrkin.”
“The Draugrkin are a mercenary band, and while they work for coin, most of them are also Necromancers,” explains ESO Dungeon Lead Mike Finnigan. “To them, the Unhallowed Grave was a perfect target, as an ancient burial ground is ideal for dead-raising, bone-gnawing, Nord lunatics.” Considering that they’re in a massive underground tomb, these “Nord lunatics” have plenty of dead material to work with, including the remains of werewolves.
Adventurers who dare enter the tomb will also be facing powerful liches, ancient stone guardians, and ultimately, the mercenary leaders themselves. Unhallowed Grave will also feature the return of the grappling hook, a handy tool previously used in last year’s Dragonhold DLC.
“One of the goals for Unhallowed Grave was to reward players who like to explore and feel like delvers in the dark,” said Finnigan. “The grappling hooks allowed us to provide an interesting traversal method in the dungeon and kick it up a notch in boss fights. As a result, it’s fully integrated within the dungeon in how you travel, battle its bosses, and even discover its secrets.”
Curious explorers will also have the chance to uncover unique loot including the Grave Guardian Heavy set, four new gear sets, collectibles, and furnishings. Completing Unhallowed Grave on Veteran difficulty will reward players with the Draugrkin’s Bloodrune Body Markings cosmetic, just in case you want to look like a Nord lunatic.
The Harrowstorm DLC comes out on February 24th on PC/Mac and on March 10th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One along with the free Update 25 for the base game. Head over to The Elder Scrolls Online official site to learn more. Don’t forget to watch the new Harrowstorm developer preview below.
