Elder Scrolls Online Rolls Out Update 39 And Its New-Player Experience Updates On The PTS

The Elder Scrolls Online has officially unveiled the contents of Update 39 and rolled it out on the public test server for interested testers on PC and Mac. The update mostly focuses on fixes, tweaks, and adjustments to enhance the new player experience.

With Update 39, ZeniMax hopes to spread the early game quests out to avoid overwhelming new players with a seemingly endless barrage of quest pins. Major city quests have been revised to avoid clustering early on, with certain questgivers only available at specific levels. Fighter and Mage Guild quests, for instance, will only be accessible at level 7 or above, while prologue quests will require players to be at least level 15 or higher, and Trial introductory quests will be exclusive to level 50 players.

The update will also bring a plethora of new content and features such as new Cyrodiil monster masks, PVP face and body markings, and improved PVP death/kill chat notifications. New achievements for existing content will also be introduced, and existing achievements will have their requirements adjusted.

Update 39 will also implement new measures to ensure players won’t miss out on event tickets they weren’t able to loot. Additionally, the team has made improvements to Imperial City Treasure Scamp loot, including the addition of tradeable drops from Trove Scamps.

PC players will benefit from a new graphical optimization update called Occlusion Culling, which prevents the game client from rendering objects hidden by other objects. This optimization can potentially boost framerates and reduce system usage. Mac users on the PTS will also have access to an optimized launcher as part of the test build.

Testers who want to put the update through its paces will be able to choose from two pre-made characters: one at max level with full gear and another at level 25. The latter will need require more work but will give testers more chances to explore the newly added content.
