elder scrolls online summerset celebration bannerZeniMax Online Studios has just announced their plans to launch The Elder Scrolls Online on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X next-generation consoles. Players who already own the game on PS4 and Xbox One will be able to upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game for free from now until the game launches on the next-gen consoles.

ZeniMax also says that they will be supporting backward compatibility with the older consoles. “We’re working hard so that when the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 launches, if you are a PS4 or Xbox One player, you can continue playing with your same accounts via backward compatibility on your respective next-gen consoles without interruption or loss of progress–same characters, servers, everything,” says the studio.

A release date for the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions have yet to be announced. More info can be found on The Elder Scrolls Online official site.
