Electronic Arts Officially Shuts Down Online Services For Seven Older Games

Electronic Arts officially ended online support for seven of its older PC and console games earlier this week. Those include Battlefield Bad Company, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 1943, Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, Dante’s Inferno, and Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, several of which were pulled from their respective storefronts a few months ago.

While you can still play their respective single-player campaigns or even organize LAN parties, you’ll no longer be able to access their online multiplayer modes. If you loved Dead Space 2’s popular Left 4 Dead-styled Necromorphs game mode, that’s unfortunately gone as well.

The ending of online support is inevitable for all live service games, so expect to see more server closures over the next few months or years as publishers and developers crank out more and more online games down the line.
