In March 2022, Frontier Developments announced that it would no longer be supporting the console version of Elite Dangerous to focus solely on the PC version of the sci-fi MMORPG. Later that September, the studio opened a console copy portal to allow players to port over their progress and some of their items to PC but was shut down just a few weeks later, leaving console players stranded on the abandoned version.

Frontier will soon be opening the portal up once again on April 3rd to give console players a chance to finally make the jump to PC if they choose to do so. The studio has a lengthy FAQ explaining how the whole process works and what players will be able to take with them when they make the move. These include character names (if it’s still available), mission progress, ships, fleet carriers, credits, ARX balance, crews, factions, and squadrons.

As for how it works, you can find the full details on the Elite Dangerous official forums.
