Ex-Blizzard And Ex-Runic Studios Devs Combine Powers To Form Echtra Inc.

Echtra Inc. is a brand new studio aiming to create an MMO ARPG, and founded by industry veterans: Max Schaefer, formerly of Runic Studios; and David Glenn and Tyler Thompson of Blizzard, who both worked on the Diablo Franchise.

MMORPG.com broke the story with some information to share:

• Echtra is from Old Irish literature and means "Adventures in the Other World"

• While we don't know what type of game is being made, it's probable that it will be "action-y" and "RPG-y"

Not exactly a lot to go on. But the game will likely be an MMO ARPG, and I expect some form of crowdfunding announcement in the near future. I'm curious to see what they come up, and whether or not it will be steeped in mythology, or if Echtra is only referring to the notion that players will be entering other worlds the team creates.

We should learn more of what exactly Echtra Inc. is up to before the year ends.
