Fairy Tale-Inspired ‘Book Of Travels’ Unveiled At Tokyo Game Show, Kickstarter Launches Next Month

book of travels flowery grasslands bannerSwedish indie developer Might and Delight have just announced that they’ll be launching their Kickstarter campaign for their TMORPG (Tiny Multiplayer Online RPG) Book of Travels next month. The announcement was made in a press release following the game’s official reveal by Steam at the Tokyo Game Show earlier today.

“Book of Travels is a is a serene online RPG that sets you adrift in a fairytale world. At Might and Delight we make games that are artistically distinctive and emotionally challenging. With Book of Travels, we’ve developed these ideas further, applying the same narrative principles and artistic integrity to an online RPG.”

Book of Travels features a unique art style reminiscent of illustrations out of a children’s fairytale book, randomly occurring plotlines and events with a heavy focus on roleplaying. According to the devs, the inherent unpredictability of the storyline will allow them to easily introduce new plot ideas and content based on requests, ideas, and feedback from the community.

According to Art Director Jakob Tuchten, the inspiration for the game came from a simple philosophy. “We wanted to take on something that was far from our previous experiences, and that we had absolutely no idea how to create.”

The game is scheduled to come out in 2020. Check out the official announce trailer below. You can also head over to the Book of Travels Steam Page for more info.
