Square Enix has announced another 24-hour maintenance downtime for Final Fantasy XIV next week in line with the release of Patch 6.55 and a massive data center upgrade. The extended downtime begins on January 15 at 2 a.m. PST. Barring any unexpected issues, the servers are expected to go online at around the same time on January 16.

Patch 6.55: Growing Light Part 2 will mark the beginning of the end of the Endwalker storyline and will pave the way for the Dawntrail expansion’s launch this summer. The patch will introduce a new set of main story quests and promises a glimpse at a female Hrothgar as players come face to face with the princess of the Golden City of Tural, Dawntrail’s main city hub.

The patch will also feature the final leg of the Hildibrand adventure and its new collection of Further Manderville weapons. Players can also look forward to new Tribal Alliance and Tataru’s Grand Endeavor quests, which should keep everyone busy until Dawntrail’s highly awaited launch.

As for the data center upgrade, Square Enix will be replacing most of the equipment in the Japanese data centers and will also be disabling the game launcher for the first half of the maintenance period. Characters caught outside of their home worlds or data centers will also be returned home as part of the process.

All that will be going down in less than a week, so be sure to get everything sorted out before Monday comes. More information can be found on the Final Fantasy XIV official site.
