Final Fantasy XIV Concurrent Playerbase Hits New Peak With Dawntrail Expansion

While we reported that Final Fantasy XIV's latest expansion failed to hit the 95,102 peak concurrent players from November, 2021 on Steam, the game did hit a new all time peak playerbase across all platforms according to the game's director Naoki Yoshida. On July 4th he said “With your support, we were able to reach a record number of concurrent users we’ve not seen since the release of A Realm Reborn in 2013.” A new peak in concurrent players is likely due to an influx of new players from the game's launch on Xbox.

Dawntrail's launch isn't without issues though, as the expansion is currently sitting at 'mixed' reviews on Steam. Besides some complaints about the story, players are upset about some balance issues between classes. The balance issues have already been acknowledged by developers, who plan on addressing them in updates 7.01 and 7.05.
