Final Fantasy XIV Announces Complete Overhaul of Veteran Rewards

Veteran Rewards in Final Fantasy XIV have always been a nice touch. Being subscribed for a certain amount of days meant that players would receive special in-game bonus items, from mounts to minions to even special outfits modeled after previous Final Fantasy protagonists! However, a glaring flaw in this system meant that players only just starting out would have to wait a terribly long time to reach max veteran rank. Initially, the max rewards were given for being subscribed for 90 days. Then it was bumped up to 180. Then 270. Now, someone would have to be subscribed for 1440 days to get the max rank reward!

To remedy this issue, FFXIV is completely revamping their Veteran Rewards system. Now, instead of having 1440 total days subscribed mean having the highest tier of Veteran Reward, players will only need to be subscribed to Final Fantasy XIV for a non-consecutive 330 days, to receive the Leonhart attire. Cloud Strife's attire, Zidane's attire, and Firion's Wild Rose attire will require 60 days, 150 days, and 240 days respectively.

But wait, what about the old rewards, such as the various mounts and minions? Well, those rewards are now directly tied into player's Achievement Points. Players can speak to an NPC to receive special Achievement Certificates, and then trade those in for items that they want.

Overall, this is a positive change, as now players don't have to worry about being subscribed for nearly four years to receive a cosmetic outfit. It goes without saying that players who already have their old Veteran Rewards will not have them taken away.
