Final Fantasy XIV Europe To Receive Dedicated Data Center On October 20th

After having been previously revealed at the London Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival, Square-Enix have finally announced the launch date for Final Fantasy XIV's dedicated European data center. On October 20th, Square-Enix hope that European players will have a "more enjoyable [...] experience" thanks to "reduced latency and lag when playing on any Worlds within the Chaos data center." Supposedly, Square-Enix made "a major investment" in order to build this new data center and it will be interesting to see if that investment pays off.

All European players whose characters are currently on North American data centers will have their characters transferred to the new data center automatically for free when the data center launches. This will only be affecting "Worlds within the Chaos data center."All of its worlds will be required to have a maintenance period of three-to-five days. Affected players will be compensated accordingly with more subscription time.
